went 2-for-3 in Guilford College's 7-5 Old Dominion Athletic
Conference (ODAC) baseball win over visiting Lynchburg College.
Nathan
Fulbright's two-run single in the bottom of the first inning
helped the Quakers to an early 4-0 lead. Joe Rogers countered with
an RBI single in the top of the first to put the Hornets on the
board. Borja
Jones-Berasaluce (2-1) quickly retired the inning and brought
Guilford back up to the plate. The Quakers were able to increase
their lead to 6-1. The Hornets' Michael Kenah hit a two-run homer
to left field, bringing Lynchburg to within three.
Justin
Morrison took over on the mound for Guilford, but allowed three
hits and two earned runs in his 1.2 innings. Tyler Tuttle
earned the save on the mound for the Quakers, entering the game
with the Quakers up 7-5. The Hornets' rally fell short, as they
could not score any off Tuttle.
Fulbright's three RBI led Guilford (10-11, 3-5 ODAC). John Macon
Smith went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Corey Wallace
had two hits. Jones-Berasaluce allowed only three earned runs in
six innings pitched during his first game back from injury.
Lynchburg's (11-9, 4-4 ODAC) Kenah had two hits and two RBI.
Rogers also tallied two hits with an RBI. Brock Shiflett plated
two.
The Quakers are back in action Saturday, Mar. 23 when they play
host to conference opponent Bridgewater College in a doubleheader
beginning at 12:00 noon at McBane Field.
