Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College's Taylor Whitley had 29 assists and just missed a triple-double in the Quakers' 25-22, 25-10, 25-18 volleyball win over Salem College Thursday. The victory gives Guilford (12-14) a sweep of the season series with the Spirits (6-14).
Whitley, a senior setter, also had eight kills, nine digs and five service aces in a solid all-around effort. She had four kills and eight assist in the first set, which saw Guilford rally from a 19-15 deficit. Classmate Malikah French was one of her favorite targets as the middle blocker put away a team-high 10 kills on .588 hitting and had three blocks. Fellow senior Brittany Freeman had eight kills and 14 digs. Libero Meredith Foscue, the fourth of four Guilford seniors honored prior to the game, scooped up a match-best 21 digs.
Roslyn Nixon's 10 kills led Salem. Setter Chelsea Jones added 21 assists, two service aces and 10 digs in a scrappy match. Chanice Williams added six kills and Zy Henderson chipped in with 19 digs.
Coach Emily Gann's Quakers close out the regular season Oct. 30 with a home match versus Greensboro College at 7:00 p.m.
