HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Va. – Guilford College's men's tennis season ended Tuesday with a 5-1 loss at Hampden-Sydney College in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament quarterfinals.
The second-seeded Tigers (10-3) advance to ODAC Tournament semifinals to face third-seeded Bridgewater College, a 5-0 winner over Virginia Wesleyan College. Seventh-seeded Guilford ends the year with a 7-10 overall record.
The Tigers (10-3), ranked 14th in the current Campbell's/Intercollegiate Tennis Association's NCAA Division III South Atlantic Region rankings, won two of three doubles contests and finished off the Quakers with three straight-set singles triumphs.
Guilford's first-doubles tandem of Tyler Mercier and Clayton Hamilton scored the Quakers' lone point with a 9-8 (7-4) win over the Tigers' Rich Pugh and Tal Covington.
