FERRUM, Va. – Guilford's men's tennis team downed host Ferrum College, 9-0, Sunday in a nonconference match.

The Quakers' Trevor Cox and Charlie Smith pulled out third-set tiebreakers at third and fourth singles, respectively. The pair also won close first-set tiebreakers to help Guilford move to 4-1 on the year. Guilford's Tyler Mercier and Clayton Hamilton won an 8-6 decision at first doubles. Mercier, a freshman, improved to 5-0 in dual singles matches with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Ferrum's Chris Miller.

Guilford hosts Bridgewater College Saturday at noon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference contest.
