Box Score RALEIGH, N.C. – Sophomore Gabby Oglesby poured in a career-high 26 points and teammate Jazlyn Gibbs added 22 in Guilford College's 82-66 win at Meredith College Saturday afternoon. The nonconference victory marked the Quakers' (7-2) sixth straight, Guilford's longest winning streak since 2002-03.
Guilford limited the Avenging Angels (2-3) to 33.8 percent shooting from the floor and converted 18 Meredith turnovers into 25 points. Oglesby had 16 points and teammate Morgan King added 12 of her 16 points in the first half as the Quakers took a 45-34 halftime lead.
Meredith's Rah'nika Jones opened the second-half scoring with a jumper that drew the hosts to within nine points. Guilford answered with a King bucket and the first of Gibbs' five second-half three-pointers to restore a 50-36 lead. Meredith pulled no closer than 10 points for the rest of the game.
Oglesby made 13-of-18 shots from the floor and grabbed 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. King also grabbed 11 boards for her third double-double this year. Junior Jaclyn Nucci contributed 11 points, five rebounds and a career-high five steals. Junior Brittany Atwater did not score, but she dished out a game- and career-high 11 assists and had seven rebounds. Her 11 helpers mark the third-highest single-game total in school history. Guilford held a 54-47 edge in rebounds and corralled 22 offensive caroms that led to 21 second-chance points.
Meredith's Megan Rahn registered a double-double with 25 points, 14 rebounds and a team-best five assists. Jones finished with 14 points and 14 boards.
Guilford visits Hollins University Jan. 3 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest.
