GREENSBORO, N.C. (9/30/10) -- Meredith Smith's 12 kills on .355 hitting paced North Carolina Wesleyan College to a 25-23, 25-21, 25-17 nonconference volleyball victory at Guilford College Thursday.

The closely played match featured 17 ties and seven lead changes.  The Battling Bishops rallied from a 23-19 first-set deficit to win, 25-23.  Smith had two kills among her teams' final five points.

Mackenzie Tingle came up big for the Battling Bishops (9-7) with 21 assists and four service aces. Kelly George added 27 digs in the win. 

Brittany Freeman had nine kills and Traci Teague added eight in Guilford's loss at home.  Rookie setter Taylor Whitley had a match-high 28 assists and teammate Taylor Phillips picked up a career-high 28 digs.  Traci Teague also added three blocks for the Quakers (8-7).

The Quakers host Old Dominion Athletic Conference opponent Randolph-Macon College Saturday (10/2) in a 3:00 p.m. match in Ragan-Brown Field House.
