Quakers Take 3-0 Volleyball Win at Peace

RALEIGH, N.C. (10/5/10) -- Brittany Freeman had 11 kills and Taylor Whitley added 35 assists in visiting Guilford College's 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 volleyball win at Peace College Tuesday night.   The Quakers swept both regular-season meetings with the Pacers and improve to 9-8 on the year. Peace falls to 8-9.  

Freeman put away six kills with no errors on eight attempts (.750 hitting percentage) in the decisive second set. The score was tied at 16-16 before the Quakers reeled off nine of the set's final 15 points. A Freeman kill clinched the set and teammate Mary Moody added four of her season-high eight putaways. Whitley had 15 assists in the set.  

Freeman and Moody both added 10 digs on the night. Taylor Phillips led Guilford's defense with 16 pickups and added two service aces. Courtney Kozar was solid with nine kills and five digs. Traci Teague contributed six kills and a match-high four blocks.  

Taylor Johnson's 11 kills led Peace. Lauren Naugle had nine putaways and a 13 digs. Olivia Griffin added 24 assists and seven digs.  

The Quakers return home Thursday (10/7) for a 7:00 p.m. match with neighboring Greensboro College. The contest is Guilford's 'Dig Pink' game for the season, which promotes breast cancer awareness.
