GREENSBORO, N.C. (4/15/09) - Bryan Breedlove threw eight strong innings in visiting Lynchburg College's 10-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball win at Guilford College Wednesday afternoon. Breedlove's (3-2) second gem versus Guilford in less than a week gave the Hornets (24-11, 13-3 ODAC) a sweep of the season series with the Quakers (17-16-1. 6-8 ODAC). Breedlove threw over seven solid innings to get the win in Lynchburg's 6-2 win over Guilford last Thursday.

The Quakers entered the game as the ODAC's hitting leader with a team batting average of .353. Breedlove held the hosts to three singles over the first seven innings while Lynchburg built a 10-0 lead.  Alex Starbuck belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to account for Guilford's runs and had two of the Quakers' four hits.

David Gaines, Jr., Jordan Watkins and Craig Colquhoun all had three hits in Lynchburg's 17-hit effort against four Guilford pitchers. Gaines had an RBI single in the first inning that gave the Hornets a 2-0 first-inning edge. Lynchburg tacked on single runs against Guilford starter Sammy Stuart (1-1) in the second and third innings to build a 4-0 margin. Matt Painter finished with two hits and a game-high three RBI, including a two-run single in the eighth inning.

The Quakers are back in action Saturday (4-18) at league-rival Randolph-Macon College in a noon doubleheader. Lynchburg visits Bridgewater College Saturday in a league doubleheader.
