Volleyball Wins Twice at Salem Tri-Match

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.-- Guilford College's volleyball team won both matches by 3-0 scores at a tri-match hosted by Salem College Saturday. The Quakers downed the host Spirits, 25-20, 25-18, 25-15, and defeated Methodist University 25-13, 25-21, 36-34.  

The wins raises Guilford's record to 9-13 overall, its most wins in a season since 2002.   In the day's first match, Anna Miller put away 10 kills and Laura Kopald added eight as the Quakers defeated Salem (7-16) for the second time this season. Kate Dailey had 24 assists for Guilford and teammate Bethany Hawks added 12 digs.  

Guilford topped Methodist (14-7) right after the Salem win. Brittany Freeman's 10 kills led the way for the Quakers. Miller added six putaways and Emma Gunn had seven kills with five blocks. Taylor Phillips paced the Quakers with 28 assists and nine digs.  

The Quakers are back in action Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. against visiting Randolph College.
