Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (2/1/08) -- Sophomore Molly Arail scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, both game highs, leading Randolph-Macon College to a 66-57 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over host Guilford College Friday night in Ragan-Brown Field House.
The Yellow Jackets, ranked 18th in this week's USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches' Top 25 Poll and 19th in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, move to 16-1 overall and 11-1 in the league. Guilford drops to 10-8 (5-8 ODAC) with its sixth straight league loss.
Arail, a 6-2 center, made seven-of-10 first-half shots and had 15 points by halftime, which helped the taller Yellowjackets to a 31-19 halftime lead. Junior forward Lindsay Riesbeck also posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and junior guard Amanda Hiltunen chipped in 12 points as Randolph-Macon's lead ballooned to 20 midway through the second half. The Yellow Jackets shot 41 percent from the floor in the game and held the Quakers to 29.2 percent field-goal shooting.
Guilford stormed back in the latter part of the second half to cut the lead to six with 2:01 remaining the game. The defensive effort of Jasmine Wood (12 rebounds, six steals) kept the game close, while Tracey Croner and Ann Seufer led the Quakers in scoring with 19 points and 14 points, respectively. However the Yellowjackets hit 16-20 free throws including five-of-seven down the stretch to seal the game away.
The Quakers host Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday (2/2) for a 4:00 p.m. league matchup. Randolph-Macon travels to Emory & Henry College Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
