Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. (12-3-08) - Ann Seufer's three-pointer with 1:10 left in overtime lifted visiting Guilford College to a 68-66 Old Dominion Athletic Conference basketball win at Washington and Lee University Wednesday night. Seufer finished with 10 points for the Quakers (3-3, 2-1 ODAC), who won their second ODAC game in overtime in three nights.
The tightly played contest featured six ties and 14 lead changes. Guilford trailed by six points with 16:32 left in regulation, but scrapped its way back with a 6-0 run that tied the game at 40 on a Lauren LeFevers basket. Guilford went on to take a five-point lead with 3:19 left on a Seufer layup, but Washington and Lee answered with an 8-0 run to take a 57-54 edge with 1:33 left.
Seufer was fouled on a three-point attempt on the Quakers' ensuing possession and the junior made all three free throws to tie the game at 57 with 57 seconds remaining. Both teams missed shots in their final possessions, which sent the game to overtime, just two days after the Quakers needed extra time to pull out a 72-64 league win over Emory & Henry.
Washington and Lee (1-4, 1-1 ODAC) built at five-point lead midway through the extra frame thanks to a pair of three-pointers by Meghan Ingram. Good free-throw shooting helped Guilford stay in the game and set the stage for Seufer's game-winning basket.
Joclyn Terry and Tracey Croner shared game-high scoring honors with 13 points apiece. Freshman Alexandria Miles scored nine points and grabbed a game- and career-high 18 rebounds, the most boards by a Quaker since 1999.
Ingram's 17 points led all scorers. Rebecca Bolton added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Generals.
Guilford visits league-rival Lynchburg College Saturday (12/6) at 5:30 p.m.
