Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (1/19/08) -- Bridgewater's Jordan Burkholder scored 24 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead the Eagles to victory over host Guilford College, 77-68, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Ragan-Brown Field House.
The Eagles (7-6, 5-4 ODAC) enjoyed a 37-30 halftime lead over the Quakers (9-5, 5-5 ODAC). Guilford would storm back to take the lead behind the hot three-point shooting of Lauren LeFevers. A pair of free throws by LeFevers at 9:48 in the second half gave Guilford it's largest lead 58-53, but Bridgewater would outscore the Quakers down the stretch 24-10. The Eagles shot 43.3 percent from the floor, while converting on 19 of 21 free throws to seal the game away. The Quakers shot 42.4 percent from the field but only 12 of 21 from the free throw line.
Bridgewater's Jennifer Saunders added 13 points, while teammates Kristin Bosserman and Rebecca Henderson each chipped in 10 points and four rebounds. Bridgewater outrebounded Guilford 38-33, and outscored the Quakers 32-20 in the paint.
Guilford's Jasmine Wood led the Quakers with 15 points and tied for a game-high six rebounds with Alexa Williams. LeFevers tied a career-high scoring 14 points and grabbing five rebounds.
Guilford returns to the court Wednesday evening (1/23) visiting Salem College in a nonconference game beginning at 7:00 p.m. Bridgewater travels up the road to meet local-rival Eastern Mennonite University, Tuesday evening (1/22) at 7:00 p.m.
