Senior forward Kristen Daly's 19 points and 14 rebounds helped York (Pa.) College past Ferrum College, 82-62, in Friday's tournament opener.

Guilford (1-0) trailed for most of the nightcap, but rallied in the final six minutes and forced the extra period when sophomore guard Ann Seufer hit a three-pointer at the regulation horn on Guilford's fourth three-point attempt in the final 10 seconds. The Quakers rode the momentum of the tying basket and outscored the Cougars, 11-2, in the first four minutes of overtime behind three Wood field goals.

Averett senior guard Darcie Jones led all scorers with 14 points and four three-pointers. Her trifecta with 20 seconds left in regulation broke the game's seventh and final tie and gave the Cougars (0-1) their final lead at 46-43. Guilford junior guard Jessica Casto scored 12 of her team-high 13 points in the second half or overtime to lead the Quakers. In the opener, Daly led all five Spartans' (1-0) starters in double-figures on eight-of-18 field-goal shooting. She had 14 first-half points, which helped York (Pa.) open a 53-31 halftime lead. Ferrum (0-1) drew no closer than 20 points early in the second half. Junior guard Amanda Andrews added 14 points behind four three-pointers and classmates Chanel Perez and Keli Ward both scored 12 points.
