Guilford Downs Hollins, 93-34, to Improve to 5-0 in ODAC

Greensboro, N.C. (1/3/07) -- Guilford College's women's basketball team improved to 5-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Wednesday with a 94-39 victory over visiting Hollins. The Quakers (6-4, 5-0 ODAC) won their fifth straight game and matched their best ODAC start since 2001.

Freshman Ann Seufer set the Guilford record for three-point field-goal percentage in a game by making all five three-point shots. Her game-high 17 points paced four Quakers in double-digit scoring.  Freshman Mariah Neville enjoyed the finest outing of her brief career with 16 points, a game-high 13 rebounds, two blocks and three steals off the bench. She had nine of Guilford's 22 offensive rebounds that led to 22 second-chance points. Rookie Katie Dailey scored a career-high 12 points and sophomore Tracey Croner added 14 points for the hosts.

The Quakers matched their school record for rebounds in a game and enjoyed a 64-27 advantage on the glass. Guilford also had 64 rebounds in a 73-72 win over Longwood Dec. 4, 1989.  Freshman Alexa Williams had nine rebounds and sophomore Shevon Hackett grabbed eight boards for Guilford.

Sophomore Allison Kibler's 12 points paced Hollins, which dressed seven students.  Hollins shot 24.2 percent from the floor in its first action since an 83-26 loss to Guilford Dec. 2.  Sophomore Emily Long added seven points and six rebounds.

The Quakers host defending ODAC champion Randolph-Macon Friday (1/5) at 7:00 p.m.
