Virginia Beach, VA (4/22/06) -- Guilford and Virginia Wesleyan split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader Saturday in the Quakers' regular-season finale.

Guilford won the opener on Joe John's two-run single in the top of the seventh that broke a 3-3 tie. The Marlins scored their fourth unearned run of the game in the bottom of the seventh, but Guilford's Dave Whighan rung up Aswin Dhramapitaksook for his ninth strikeout to end the game.

Ian Spector paced the Quakers with two hits, including a double. Guilford's Jeff Arzonico went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

Matt Hudgins paced Virginia Wesleyan with a 2-3 showing with two RBIs. Ricky Allred also had two hits and two RBIs. Chris Rivera (2-5) pitched the seventh inning and took the loss.

Hudgins and Rivera starred in the second game as Hudgins' two-run single in the bottom of the ninth scored two runs and gave the Marlins a 5-4 win in the nightcap. Hudgins' hit was the third straight single of the frame off of Guilford relievers Scottie Wilcox and Joe Overby (0-3). A passed ball also helped the Marlins.

Hudgins finished with two hits in four at bats and three RBIs. Brent Vuyovich went 3-4 and had two of the Marlins' four stolen bases in the game. Rivera threw a scoreless ninth inning for the win.

Mike Chelenza went 2-3 with a double and an RBI for Guilford. Ricky Seabolt also had two hits, including his team-leading 15th double of the year, one shy of the school record.
