Guilford Falls at Methodist, 65-52

Fayetteville, N.C. (11/26/06) -- Stacy Williams scored a game-high 22 points and added eight rebounds to lead host Methodist past Guilford Sunday afternoon, 65-52, in the final game of the Methodist/Cross Creek InnKeeper Turkey Shootout. The Monarchs (3-2) posted their third straight win and won the tournament title. The Quakers slipped to 1-4 with their fourth straight setback.

After falling behind by nine points early in the second half, Guilford rallied and trimmed the deficit to one with 7:04 left in the game. Methodist held a 48-44 lead with 4:11 to play and put the game away with a game-ending 17-9 run. Guilford managed two field goals in the final 4:11 and Lisa Jackson made two key three-pointers for the Monarchs.

Kristen Whitehurst scored 11 points and corralled eight rebounds off the bench for Methodist, who enjoyed a 51-35 edge in rebounds. Jackson finished with 10 points and six rebounds.

Brittany Bumgarner paced the Quakers with nine points. Alexa Williams represented Guilford on the all-tournament team.

Guilford returns to action Friday (12/1) at Randolph-Macon Woman's College at 7:00 p.m. in the Quakers' Old Dominion Athletic Conference opener.
