Box Score Greensboro, NC (2/5/05) -- Freshman forward Brittiany Green totalled a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds in Guilford's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win over visiting Bridgewater Saturday. Green scored 11 second-half points, including six during a decisive 17-5 run that turned a seven-point Quakers' deficit into a 56-51 lead with 1:37 to play.
Senior Krystal Hermes' free throw with 9:10 left gave the Eagles (15-5, 10-5 ODAC) a 46-39 edge, their largest lead of the half. The Quakers (7-13, 5-10 ODAC) reeled off eight straight points to grab a 48-47 edge before Katy Herr's basket with 4:09 left gave Bridgewater its final lead of the game, 49-48. Senior Courtney Hill's bucket with 3:45 remaining gave Guilford the lead for good, 50-49. Bridgewater made only two of its final 12 field goals and the Quakers outrebounded the Eagles, 24-14, in the second half.
Hill, like Green, posted her second straight double-double with 10 points and 10 boards. She moved to with three points of 1,000 for her career. Junior Jennifer King scored 11 of her 14 points in the second half and added nine boards and four assists. Sophomore Dionne Graham notched five points and a game-high seven assists.
Freshman Shannon Scales, the reigning ODAC Player of the Week, led the Eagles with 12 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Jessica Young contributed 11 points and five boards. Herr totaled nine points, three assists and a game-high five steals. The Eagles shot just under 32 percent from the floor in the game.
Guilford hosts Eastern Mennonite Sunday (2/6) at 4:30 p.m. The Eagles stay on the road to play league-rival Emory & Henry Sunday (2/6) at 4:00 p.m.
