Randolph-Macon Defeats Women's Hoopsters at Guilford

Box Score

Greensboro, NC  -- Randolph-Macon's women's basketball team remained perfect in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play Saturday with a 65-47 road win over Guilford and salvaged a split for the Yellow Jackets in a league twinbill. The Quakers' men ended a 12-game losing streak to Randolph-Macon with a 76-69 victory in the day's opening contest.

The Yellow Jackets' women (10-1, 7-0 ODAC) showed why they are ranked 18th in this week's D3hoops.com Division III poll with a convincing defensive performance. Randolph-Macon held the Quakers (2-7, 0-4 ODAC) to 24.2 percent field-goal shooting and forced 24 turnovers in the Quakers' seventh straight setback. Junior Megan Silva (Glen Allen, VA/Hermitage), the reigning ODAC Player of the Year and Player of the Week, paced the Yellow Jackets with 14 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals in 28 minutes. Coach Carroll LaHaye rested her regulars for much of the second half as the Yellow Jackets held 15-point halftime lead that eventually grew to 30 points.

Jennifer King led Guilford with 13 points, six rebounds and five assists. Randolph-Macon's Megan Senske (Annandale, NJ/North Hunterdon) shared game-high rebounding honors with Guilford's Courtney Hill and Brittiany Green.  Each player corralled eight boards.

The Yellow Jackets continue on the road Sunday (1/9) at league-rival Emory & Henry. The Quakers try to end their longest losing streak since 1987-88 Sunday (1/9) when they host Virginia Wesleyan at 4:30 p.m.
