Box Score Bridgewater, VA -- The Bridgewater College jumped out to a 7-0 lead over the Guilford Quakers and never trailed en route to a 65-52 victory in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball action.
A 3-pointer by Marsha Kinder gave the Eagles their biggest lead of the first half, 29-19, with 3:57 left. A 6-0 run capped by Brittiany Green inside bucket made the score 29-25 before Heather St. Clair sank two free throws, sending the Eagles to the locker room with a 31-25 lead.
The Eagles gradually built the lead back to double digits, leading by 10, 48-38 with 10:15 left in the game, but Guilford answered with six straight points by Courtney Hill to pull within four, 48-44, with 7:55 left.
Following a timeout, the Eagles responded with an 11-0 run to take their biggest lead of the game, 59-44. Kinder ignited the run with a long 3-pointer and Shannon Scales and Mya Braxton followed with buckets to put the Eagles up by 11. Braxton scored again from inside and Jessica Young added a short jumper, giving BC a 59-44 lead with 4:33 left to play.
Kinder paced the Eagles with 17 points, highlighted by a 5-for-8 effort from beyond the arc. Katy Herr added 11 points, eight rebounds, six assists and four steals and fellow guard Lindsay Andrews chipped in with 10 points.
Guilford's Hill led all scorers with 19 points and Dionne Graham added 11 points.
Bridgewater improved to 10-4 overall and 5-4 in the ODAC. Guilford dropped to 3-10, 1-7 in conference play. Guilford visits ODAC rival Emory & Henry Tuesday (1/18) at 7:00 p.m.
