Box Score Lynchburg, VA - Jay Moore tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering three hits in nine innings as Lynchburg defeated Guilford, 4-0, in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) baseball action Monday.
After a sixth-inning double by A.J. McCauley, Moore retired the next 11 hitters, needing only 81 total pitches on the afternoon. The senior right-hander received all the offense he needed in the third inning, when Steven Scott connected on a three-run, bases-clearing double.
Chris Knowles and Shawn Abell both went 2-3, while Scott, Joey Arthur, Anthony Palmisano and Sean Ranson all enjoyed 2-4 afternoons.
Guilford starter Adam Comstock suffered the loss, allowing four runs over five-and-a-third innings. Rob Bittner and Johnathan Renegar each posted base hits for Guilford (14-14/3-7 ODAC).
Sixthteenth-ranked Lynchburg (22-5/9-1 ODAC) hosts Hampden-Sydney Wednesday in ODAC action. Guilford visits Roanoke Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
