KEICHLINE LIFTS GUILFORD PAST RANDOLPH-MACON IN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Greensboro, NC -- Jennie Keichline (Chapel Hill, NC/East Chapel Hill) scored 17 points, including the go-ahead basket with 46 seconds left, in Guilford's 74-72 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win over visiting Randolph-Macon Saturday.

The Quakers' (12-5, 10-3 ODAC) 12th triumph in 14 games featured nine ties and 18 lead changes. The win extends Guilford's school-record home winning streak to 21 games and marked its second nail-biter in as many nights. Guilford edged Virginia Wesleyan at home Friday, 66-65.

The Yellow Jackets (10-8, 7-6 ODAC) dropped their second straight game after winning seven in a row.

Guilford opened a 10-point lead early in the second half, but Randolph-Macon's Megan Silva (Glen Allen, VA/Hermitage) and Sarah Crider (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) sparked a Yellow Jackets' comeback that tied the score at 66-66 with 3:47 remaining. Silva, a freshman, netted 10 points over a seven-minute span late in the second half during which the Yellow Jackets outscored Guilford, 22-12. Crider gave the guests their first lead of the second half (68-67) with a layup at the 3:21 mark.

Amanda Morris' (New Point, VA/Mathews) basket with 2:07 left gave Randolph-Macon its final lead, 72-71. After Guilford missed two shots, the Yellow Jackets had four shots on their next possession, but couldn't get one to fall. Keichline rebounded a Crider miss and ran the floor to take a feed from Nicole McCrory (Charlotte, NC/East Mecklenburg) for the eventual winning basket.

Following a Yellow Jackets' turnover, McCrory made one of two free throws with eight seconds left. Silva took the inbounds pass, drove the length of the floor and dished to Crider who couldn't get a four-footer to fall as time expired.

Keichline scored 11 of her points in the first half and helped the Quakers erase an early five-point deficit. She also finished with a game-high nine boards, two blocks and two steals. Junior forward A.J. Robertson (Eden, NC/Morehead) tallied 10 of her 14 points in the second half and Courtney Hill (Kannapolis, NC/North Rowan) added 13 points. Jackie Hardenbergh (Oak Hill, VA/Paul VI) helped with nine points, seven rebounds and a career-high five steals.

Silva led all scorers with 22 points and added a team-high six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Senior guard Lindsay Carroll (Salem, VA/Salem) totaled 13 points thanks to a game-high three three-pointers and six assists.

Guilford, ranked sixth in the January 26 NCAA Division III South Region poll, seeks its 22nd straight home win this Tuesday night (02/04) against Ferrum, the region's second-ranked team. Randolph-Macon concludes a four-game road swing Sunday (02/02) at Emory & Henry.
