Elizabeth City, NC (01/29/02) -- Junior forward Jevon Clarke (Apex, NC/Southeast Raleigh) led four players in double-figure scoring in Guilford's 112-49 nonconference men's basketball win at Roanoke Bible College Tuesday night. The win gives the Quakers (12-9) their most victories in a season since the 1991-92 club went 12-13 and marks their final nonconference game of the year.
Guilford, which set school records for victory margin and three-pointers in last Monday's (01/21) 108-32 home win over the Flames, ended a three-game losing streak with the triumph. Fifteen of Guilford's 16 players scored in the game. The Quakers held a 60-25 halftime lead.
Clarke's former high-school teammate, sophomore Robert Spence (Apex, NC/Southeast Raleigh) surpassed his career high set in the previous win over Roanoke Bible with 16 points, thanks to a game-high four three-pointers. Sophomore forward Thomas Swindell (High Point, NC/Southwest Guilford) enjoyed his highest scoring contest in 19 games with 12 points and sophomore guard Ron Bradford (Eden, NC/Greensboro Day) added 10 markers. Freshmen Will O'Neil (Greensboro, NC/Northeast Guilford) and Greg McDowell (Rutherfordton, NC/R-S Spindale) each set new career scoring highs with nine and eight points, respectively.
E.L. Jones led the Flames with 13 points.
