Men’s Basketball Places Backcourt Tandem Of Proctor and Salters on All-ODAC Second Team

Quakers run streak of consecutive seasons with multiple All-ODAC honorees to 14-straight

FOREST, Va. – As they were all season, the Guilford College men's basketball team was led by their backcourt duo of Gabe Proctor (Apex, N.C.) and Braylen Salters (Cleveland, Ohio), as they each were named All-ODAC Second Team selections as announced by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) offices on Thursday morning.

Nine different teams were represented on the 2025-26 all-conference teams, with GC finishing as one-of-seven squads to nab multiple All-ODAC honorees, led by Hampden-Sydney College, Randolph-Macon College, and Roanoke College, with three selections apiece. Guilford does hold the distinction as one-of-four teams with multiple players picked to the All-ODAC Second Team or above, though, joining the conference's top-three seeds, R-MC, RC, and Virginia Wesleyan University.

The ODAC's most-efficient three-point shooter since stepping on the court as a freshman, Proctor vastly increased his volume in his first season under head coach Jesse DeLoof, finishing second in America in three-point attempts and makes with 247 and 90 respectively through the regular season's conclusion, connecting on more shots from distance than anyone on a per game basis with a mark of 3.60 per contest. While this did see him record his first season below .400 for three-point percentage, he still maintained a .364 mark that finished second in the ODAC among national qualifiers and 78th in the country overall. Pouring in 432 points at a rate of 17.3 per game, fourth-most in the conference and 173rd-most in Division-III he shot .383/.364/.817 for the year. Long-underrated for his overall impact on winning beyond his scoring prowess, Proctor set career-highs for steals, with 34, and assists, with 49, recording an assist-to-turnover ratio above 1.0 for the first time since he had averaged under an assist per game as a freshman. On the glass, he finished just-short of his 2024-25 highwater mark of 4.4 rebounds per game, grabbing 4.2, though his career-high 46 offensive boards ranked fifth on the team. Conference play was a bit more unfriendly to Proctor than non-league action this year, as his scoring did drop to 14.7 points per game although his three-point percentage rose to .376 and his distributing rose to over 2.0 assists per game. Proctor becomes the 19th Quaker to be a multi-time All-ODAC honoree while joining some pretty illustrious company as just the program's 13th player to be picked to the All-ODAC Second Team or higher multiple times.

His first season in Greensboro was a season for the ages for Salters, as he absolutely shredded some of nation's premier defenses across the vaunted ODAC. Finishing as the conference's leading scorer with the best regular season points per game mark the ODAC has seen in over a decade, his figure of 23.7 stands as the most a player has netted since Shenandoah's Avery Green back in 2014 while also being the first underclassman to pace the league in scoring since H-SC's Harrison George in 2010-11. His scoring average ranked 13th in Division-III at the end of the regular season while his total points figure of 592 finished within the national top-10. Making a living at the charity stripe, he ranked third in the country in both free throw makes and attempts, with 200 and 240, becoming the first Quaker ever to make over 200 free throws in a season in the program's Division-III Era. He accomplished all this while pacing the league's national qualifiers in free throw percentage, posting a mark of .833. While his .386 field goal percentage and .306 three-point rate left something to be desired, Salters did finish with 56 total makes from range, the fourth-most in the conference and 154th-most in the nation. Defensively, he had 52 steals, averaging 2.08 per game with both marks finishing tied for third-most in the league while ranking 75th and 91st in Division-III. Through all this, he somehow found an extra gear in ODAC play, scoring 25.2 points per game on .380/.318/.840 shooting. He rose his rebounding and distributing to 4.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game from 3.6 and 2.0 overall while securing all-three of his ODAC Offensive Player of the Week selections during league play. This is Salters' second all-conference selection after being named to the All-AMCC Third Team last season at Pitt-Bradford. He and Proctor combine to give Guilford their 14th-consecutive year with multiple All-ODAC honorees.

The Quakers took a bit of a step back in their first season under DeLoof, going through the ebbs and flows that come with the first season under any head coach. As a result, they finished 13-13 overall and 7-9 in ODAC play before getting eliminated by top-seeded and top-ranked Randolph-Macon College in the ODAC Quarterfinals.
