Box Score Greensboro, NC (01/31/01) -- Rookie forward Jennie Keichline (Cary, NC/East Chapel Hill) scored 14 of her team and career-high 16 points in the second half in Guilford's 89-51 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win over visiting Washington and Lee Wednesday. The Quakers (13-4, 11-2 ODAC) turned 30 Generals (6-12, 4-10 ODAC) turnovers into 30 points for their fourth straight win and 10th in 11 games.
With Washington and Lee trailing 9-8 early in the first half, Guilford reeled off 18 of the next 20 points and grabbed a 27-10 lead with 9:09 left before halftime. Junior guard Erin Beacham (Atlanta, GA/Lovett) netted 11 of her 13 points in the first half as the Quakers led 40-23 at the break.
A 35-9 spurt midway through the second period increased Guilford's lead from 17 points to 43 points with 5:15 remaining. Keichline, who entered the game averaging 8.1 minutes per contest, took advantage of her extensive floor time and tallied 10 of her points in the final 5:37.
Guilford rookie guard A.J. Robertson (Eden, NC/Morehead) made all six field goals, including two three-point shots, for a career-best 14 points. Freshman guard Kate Goodman (Salisbury, NC/West Rowan) added eight points to help Guilford's reserves outscore the Generals' bench, 60-4.
Washington and Lee junior forward Jessica Mentz (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) led all scorers with 26 points and seven rebounds. Junior center Megan Babst (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) notched her team-leading 13th double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 12 boards.
The Quakers have won five straight from Washington and Lee and lead the overall season series, 14-1.
