  • lettered four years for coach Shane Dular at South Johnston High School
  • earned All-Eastern Carolina Conference honors and helped the Trojans to the second round of the 2012 state 3AA playoffs
  • made six interceptions as a senior and was named the team's Defensive Most Valuable Player
  • saw action with South Johnston's 2009 unit that won the ECC title and placed second in the state playoffs
  • also an accomplished sprinter and jumper for the Trojans' track and field teams
  • won the 200-meter dash at the 2013 Johnston County Outdoor Championships
  • lettered twice with the wrestling team
