2001: Guilford's opening-day starting pitcher and a reserve outfielder... suffered an injury early in the season, which caused him to miss the better part of the season... on the mound, the left-hander went 0-1 with a 13.00 ERA in three games, including two starts... started  four games as a designated hitter... Personal: Lettered three years for Coach Tim Ashcroft at the Maclay School… named Most Improved Player... earned Player of The Week recognition from The Tallahassee Democrat… son of Frank and Midge Mercer
