• team captain, Goettler won a team and career-high eight games as Guilford's top starting pitcher
• finished with an 8-2 record and 4.13 ERA in 13 appearances 
• he led the Quakers in wins, strikeouts (66) and innings pitched (69.2) 
• ranked among the league leaders in wins (2nd), strikeouts (6th), and innings pitched (8th)
• he held opponents to a .229 batting average and tossed the team's lone shutout, a three-hit whitewash of ODAC-foe Eastern Mennonite March 9
• threw five innings of no-hit ball in Guilford's 25-3 win over Medaille February 23 and fanned a career-high eight batters in an ODAC win over Emory & Henry April 12
• in his two Guilford seasons after transferring from the Community College of Allegheny County, Goettler went 9-4 with a 4.50 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 120 innings

Personal: Transferred from Community College of Allegheny County South Campus… twice named First Team All-State while at Allegheny… four-year letterwinner coach Mort Cape’s East Allegheny H.S. team… named All-Section twice… won the Western Pennsylvania K-King Award for strikeouts in a season as a junior and senior… an inductee of the Pittsburgh High School Sports Hall of Fame… pitched in the Palomino League and won championship in ’98… was named to the all-region and East Coast Palomino teams… his brother Brian pitches for Westminster (PA) College.
