Biography

Career: Started all but one career game... has a .523 slugging percentage... stands second among Quakers' career leaders in doubles, seventh in total hits, sixth in runs scored, and eighth in RBIs... 2009: The Quakers' team captain and right-fielder... led the team in runs scored and set a new Guilford single-season record with 17 doubles... had 16 multiple-hit games, nine multiple-RBI contests and a 10-game hitting streak... ranked second among ODAC leaders in runs scored per game ( 1.15 ) and fourth in doubles per game (.44)... went four-for-five with a double, a season-high three RBIs and three runs scored against North Carolina Wesleyan... 2008: Guilford's starting center fielder... ranked second on the club in home runs... led the team in RBIs... had five multiple-hit games and a team-high eight multiple-RBI contests... had a seven-game hitting streak... had a double, home run and plated two runners against Ferrum... appeared in five games as a pitcher... 2007: Earned Second Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honors and Guilford's McBane Hitting Award after leading the Quakers with a career-high batting average... ODAC Baseball Player of the Week (Feb. 27)... also led Guilford in runs, hits, home runs, doubles, slugging percentage (.641) and on-base percentage (.480)... ranks among the league leaders in each of the aforementioned categories, including third in home runs and fourth in slugging percentage and on-base percentage... his career-high 15 doubles stand fourth in school history and rank among the 2007 ODAC leaders... he hit .382 with seven doubles and 10 RBI in 18 ODAC games... had 13 games with more than two hits, including a 5-6 showing against Emory & Henry Mar. 24 that included two RBI and four runs scored... he hit for the cycle in a 4-4 performance against Lynchburg Mar. 3... homered twice against Averett (Feb. 20) and Lawrence (Mar. 22)... his career-best 13-game hitting streak was the team's longest this season... 2006: Hit walk-off homer in ODAC Tournament win over Washington and Lee... tied for fourth on the team in homers and fifth in RBIs... went three-for-three with two home runs, three runs scored and three RBIs against Bluefield State (2/25)... Personal: President of Guilford’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee… two-time member of Guilford's Student-Athlete Honor Roll... received Guilford’s 2008 Nereus C. English Leadership Award, the school’s highest athletic honor… lettered four years under coach Steve Williams at Leesville Road H.S... received All-Cap Six Conference honors in 2005... was recognized as the team's MVP in 2005... lettered in football for one year... played American Legion baseball for three years... played with the Kernersville Bulldogs in the 2008 Carolina-Virginia Collegiate Baseball League… son of Joseph and Evelyn John... exercise and sport studies major… psychology and education double minor.
