• lettered for coach Rodney Brewington's Smith High School team
• played offense, defense and on special teams for the Golden Eagles

• played in the 2013 N.C. Coaches' Association East-West All-Star Game and preserved the West victory with an interception on the game's final play
• named a 2012 All-Area selection by the News & Record
