GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford College men's tennis team (2-10, 2-3 ODAC) returned to the win column on Saturday afternoon, putting together a dominant performance to defeat Randolph-Macon College (1-11, 0-6 ODAC) 5-2 at the McMichael Courts.
Guilford set the tone early by clinching the doubles point with strong play at the top of the lineup. At the No. 1 position,
Emmanuel Oye (Clayton, N.C.) and
Alex Brown (Burlington, N.C.) teamed up for a 6-2 victory over Karsten Palmer and Evan Holzmacher. The No. 2 duo of
Turner Johnson (Oak Ridge, N.C.) and
George Hardie (Liberty, N.C.) mirrored that success with a 6-3 win over John Paul Zano and Winston Chapman to secure the opening tally.
In singles action, the Quakers' top four flights were nearly flawless, losing only a combined six games across eight sets. Oye led the charge at the No. 1 spot, cruising to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Zano. Hardie followed suit at No. 2 with a dominant 6-1, 6-0 performance against Palmer.
The momentum continued through the middle of the lineup as Brown delivered a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 3 position, and Johnson capped off the Quakers' scoring with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 4.
The Quakers will look to continue their winning ways tomorrow, Sunday, March 29th, when they travel to face Virginia Wesleyan University. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
