Quakers post program's largest-ever margin of victory in ODAC play

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Dominating from the opening tip, the Guilford College men's basketball team (11-9, 5-6 ODAC) simply steamrolled Randolph College (4-16, 0-11 ODAC) with their largest margin of victory in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) contest in the program's 34th year history in the league, claiming a 127-68 wire-to-wire win on Jack Jensen Court in the Ragan-Brown FieldHouse on Wednesday night.

It was an unreal offensive showing for GC as they set season-highs in bench scoring, with 74, and points in the paint, with 76 and matched their season-best for points off turnovers, with 44 on their way to their highest scoring output since netting 129 on March 9, 2007 against Lincoln (Pa.) University. Taking a program-record 97 shots in the game, the Quakers connected at a season-high .546 rate in the contest while matching their season-best .438 three-point percentage, albeit in double the attempts from their prior best, making 14-of-32. RC never got going in contrast, shooting .444 from the field and just 4-for-21 from three while committing 27 turnovers against GC's mere six.

All 18 Quakers appeared in the game with 16 of them pitching into the scoring column and a dozen players contributing at least five tallies. Ke Edwards (Hickory, N.C.) resetting his Guilford career-high with 24 points on 11-of-14 from the field and snagged a trio of steals. Guilford's leading scorers on the season, Braylen Salters (Cleveland, Ohio) and Gabe Proctor (Apex, N.C.), pitched in 17 apiece with the former making 7-of-10 overall and 3-for-5 from three and the latter connecting on 6-of-10 from the field and 5-for-8 from range. Reynolds Escher (Atlanta, Ga.) finished Quakers in double-digits with 11 tallies while Enzo Geremski (Winston-Salem, N.C.) pitched in a career-high nine in reserve. Tripp McMillen (Dodson, N.C.) grabbed a team-high six rebounds and Kody Clayton (Cary, N.C.) dished a game-high and career-best nine assists.

Khalil Caple was the only WildCat who found much offensive success in the game, netting a team-high 19 points. Aveion Tucker contributed a dozen points and a team-high five assists while Chris Hayes led all players in rebounds with eight for RC.

Guilford made quick work of mounting a big lead in this one, as Salters finished at the rim on their first possession to claim an advantage they would never relinquish just 10 seconds in. Dawson Edwards (Durham, N.C.) made a two following a Clayton steal, Salters made a three then a short two, Proctor buried one from range, Rival Axselle (Mechanicsville, Va.) made a short hook shot, Salters got another pair, Ke Edwards scored four-straight, and Escher made a two as the hosts mounted a 22-6 lead in the opening three-and-a-half minutes before they even missed a shot. The lead eclipsed 20 on a Proctor three immediately out of the under-16 break. Firmly in front following a Magnus Swinger (Concord, N.C.) layup just before the under-12 media timeout, GC got the game from blowout to certified rout by scoring on eight of their next ten possessions to score a season-best 22 unanswered tallies. The WildCats countered by matching their game-best run of five-straight tallies, but Guilford just refused to stop scoring, finishing with what is believed to be a program-record 80 points in the opening stanza while allowing just 29 to hold a monster lead at the half.

The huge lead allowed the Quakers to use their starters for about 17 minutes combined in the second half, dipping deep into their bench early and often the rest of the way as RC never manage a sustained run to get the game close again. Instead, the GC bench provided plenty to get the Guilford faithful on their feet, including five points and a made three by Dimitris Olympios (Athens, Greece), and clusters of points from Jackson Fannon (Denver, N.C.), Landon Francis (Duke Center, Pa.) and Tej Efemini (Marietta, Ga.). Along the way, the lead never got under 50 tallies, as the Quakers completed their largest ODAC blowout ever, 129-68.

GC looks to ride their momentum into a big-time matchup in Lexington, seeking to avenge their 2026-opening defeat to Washington & Lee on Saturday, February 7, tipping off at 2:00 PM.
