GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford College women's rugby team (1-2-0) made their season debut at Haworth Field, but at the end of an inspired performance against Division-II opponent Emory & Henry University (1-1-0), showing determination, creativity, and scoring power they took a competitive 46-27 defeat on a picturesque Saturday afternoon.

The Quakers struck five times, proving they could break through the Wasps' defense and finish with confidence. Jasmine Cartwright (Kalispell, Mont.), led the charge with two tries, using her strength and vision to carve through defenders. Zoe Tate (Laytonsville, Md.) also lit up the scoreboard with a pair of tries, displaying their strength and decisive running in space. Brianna Folch (Bridgeport, Conn.) added a powerful score of her own, while Caitlyn Reese (Noblesville, Ind.) slotted a clean conversion to cap off Guilford's point total.

Though Emory & Henry ultimately took the win, Guilford refused to be overshadowed. The Quakers' ability to consistently create and finish attacking opportunities at pace highlighted the growth of the program and the depth of its young roster. Against a higher-division opponent, Guilford showed heart, skill, and resilience, leaving clear signs that this team can be a threat throughout the season.

The Quakers next play Queens University of Charlotte at home on Saturday, September 20th, kickoff at 1:00 PM.
