Farrish’s Career-High Fruitless, (RV) Men’s Basketball Drops Critical Matchup to (RV) Roanoke

Senior scores 22, matches career-high six three-point makes in defeat

SALEM, Va. – Caleb Farrish (McLeansville, N.C.) scored a career-high 22 points but the nationally receiving voted Guilford College men's basketball team (16-5, 9-3 ODAC) fell to nationally receiving votes Roanoke College (16-4, 10-2 ODAC), 78-53 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play on Wednesday evening in the Cregger Center.

Guilford was restricted to 8-of-29 from distance and .309 shooting in an extremely clean game that featured just 15 turnovers and 18 free throw attempts combined between the adversaries. Conversely, the Maroons shot .536 from the field and made 12-of-26 from three in the winning effort.

Guilford's Farrish led all players with his scoring output making 8-of-13 and matching his career-high with six three-point makes. Gabe Proctor (Apex, N.C.) was the only other Quaker to score double-digits with ten on the night along with a team-high three assists. Nick Farrar (Apex, N.C.) led GC with eight rebounds.

Jackson Bell scored a team-leading 19 points for the hosts making 6-of-8 from the field. Joshua McClary added 15 points along with five rebounds and six assists. Porter Stanley pitched in a dozen off the bench. Marcus Moses neared a triple-double for Roanoke leading all players with ten rebounds and nine assists along with eight points.

Guilford's first five made baskets of the game were all from three-point range, including a quartet from Farrish, as they staked themselves to a 15-13 lead through seven-and-a-half minutes of play. It would be all Maroons from there, however, as they closed the half scoring 24 of the final 39 points to bring a 39-28 lead into the intermission.

Guilford would not get inside of single digits at any point in the second half, ultimately falling, 78-53.

Guilford returns home to play Washington & Lee next on Saturday beginning at 3 PM.
