GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Guilford College softball team (1-3) was defeated by Meredith College (2-2) 0-2 on the day at Haworth Field on Sunday afternoon in yet another non-conference matchup.

Game One:

Shiloh Gray (Lexington, N.C.) was the lone pitcher in game one where she was awarded the loss and now stands at 0-1 on the mound. Gray allowed seven hits over 7.0 innings, striking out four with issuing two walks. She also encouraged six flyouts and ten groundouts on 99 pitches.
Lillie Davis earned the win with a complete-game performance, holding Guilford to five hits and three earned runs while striking out seven over seven innings with 108 pitches. Her win record now stands at 1-1.
Offensively for Guilford,
Morgan Singletary (Laurel Hill, N.C.) provided a spark with a solo home run in the fifth, her first of the season.
Kalissa Williams (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) added two hits, while
Chloee Stoner (Salisbury, N.C.) reached base and scored a run, contributing to the Quakers' mid-game rally attempt.
Alyssa Daniel (Spring Lake, N.C.) showcased her speed with two stolen bases, keeping Meredith's defense under pressure.
Meredith's offense was led by Ashbee Standridge, who delivered the game's biggest blow with a three-run homer in the third inning, helping the Avenging Angels build a 5-0 lead. Tess Spangenburg added a pair of hits, including an RBI double, while Mia Staggs contributed two hits and scored twice. Meredith capitalized on Guilford's defensive errors, extending the lead with insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings to solidify the 7-3 victory.

Game Two:
On the mound, Kaylee Manning (1-1) picked up the win for Meredith, allowing just two earned runs over 4.0 innings with three strikeouts. For Guilford,
Abbey Whelan (Gaithersburg, Md.) (1-1) took the loss, tossing 5.1 innings while allowing five earned runs and striking out four.
Meredith jumped the gun with three runs in the first inning, capitalizing on GC errors and a two-RBI double from Standridge. Emilee Lewis contributed throughout the game, finishing with two hits, three RBIs, and a stolen base. Meredith's offense exploded in the seventh with key hits from Davis (RBI triple), Morgan Knight (RBI single), and Lewis, whose single drove in two.
Offensively, Gray led the Quakers with two hits and a two-RBI single in the third inning. Stoner added a hit, a run scored, and reached base due to a hit-by-pitch, while
Avery Lowe (Greensboro, N.C.) contributed a single and Daniel swiped a base. Despite Guilford's early defensive efforts, Meredith's late spark and steady pitching secured the 13-3 victory.
GC is back in action right here at home against Mary Baldwin University on Thursday, February 27. Starting times are set for 1 PM and 3 PM.
