FOREST, Va. – Already eclipsing the century mark for points this season,
Gabe Proctor (Apex, N.C.) has elevated his game to another level in his senior campaign for the Guilford College men's basketball team, and for his efforts he was recognized as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending on November 16
th, as announced by the conference offices on Monday afternoon.
The ODAC's top scorer both in terms of total points output and points per game, Proctor has surpassed his career-high scoring total entering the season in three of the Quakers' four games, and the 20-point mark in each contest to bring his season points total to 102 already. This makes him the first GC player to reach triple-digits for scoring in a season's first four games since Ben Strong '08 in 2007-08. Racking up a career-best 28 points in Guilford's season-opener, he has not slowed down since for the Quakers, averaging 24.67 points in the three contests that fall within the recognition's timeframe since, shooting .474/.400/.800 (26-55/14-35/8-10) in those games, adding 15 rebounds, nine of them on the offensive end, and six assists.
Proctor opened the week with a quarter in the points column, reaching his 25 points on .444/.400/.833 (8-18/4-10/5-6) in the Quakers' difficult test in Rocky Mount against North Carolina Wesleyan University. Four of his five rebounds in that contest came on the offensive end while the senior dished a pair of assists against one turnover in GC's 106-102 win. His follow-up would be his most-efficient game of the week, against Marymount, doing his part despite the defeat with a game-high 21 points on .538/.500/.750 (7-13/4-8/3-4) shooting while taking in an offensive board among his four total rebounds. The most impressive showing Proctor featured this week came on Saturday against Southern Virginia University in GC's 109-93 win. Setting career-highs for field goal makes and attempts, and three-point attempts while also matching his career-highs for three-point makes, points, and assists, he finished tied atop the scoring leaders with 28 tallies on .458 (11-24) from the field and .353 (6-17) from range for GC. He also collected seven boards, four of them of the offensive variety, and dished out four assists against a pair of turnovers while mixing in a trio of steals for good measure.
A 2024 All-ODAC Second Team pick, Proctor receives an ODAC weekly honor for the first time in his career and is the first Quaker to get ODAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition since his former high school teammate,
Nick Farrar '25 netted a trio of the honors last winter, the last one coming on the week that finished on February 16
th, 2025.
