LEXINGTON, Va. – The Guilford College volleyball team (7-6, 2-3 ODAC) went toe-to-toe early with No. 11 Washington and Lee University (14-2, 3-2 ODAC) on Friday night inside Holekamp Gym, coming within three points in the opening set before falling 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-10) in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

The Quakers were led by
Zoe Whisnant (Greensboro, N.C.), who recorded a match-best 21 receptions and
Chrisbel Alcantara (San Juan, Puerto Rico) who contributed nine kills.
Natalie Moore (Talbott, Tenn.) added 17 digs to round out Guilford's effort.
Washington and Lee was powered by Grace Mitchener's 17 kills, Sienna Nichoson's 36 assists, and Emily Schellenberg's 19 digs.
Guilford opened strong in the first set, battling point for point and pulling within three at 17-20 behind kills from Alcantara and
Madison Duvall (Sophia, N.C.). However, the Generals held firm to take the frame, 25-21. Washington and Lee carried that momentum into the second, using a .483 hitting percentage to pull away 25-16, and then closed out the match in the third, 25-10.

The Quakers return to action tomorrow, Saturday, October 4th, with another ODAC road matchup against the Bridgewater College Eagles. First serve is set for 12:00 P.M. in Bridgewater, Virginia.
