VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- With a postseason spot already clinched, the men's tennis squad looked to gain some momentum heading into May's conference tournament with a dual at Virginia Wesleyan. On the day, the Marlins outmatched the Quakers, defeating them 8-1.

Guilford caps off their regular season slate at 8-8, 5-4 in the ODAC. Virginia Wesleyan finishes their fine regular season with 13 wins, four losses, including a 6-1 record in the conference. 

GC's lone win came from sophomore phenom Andres Mercedes (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic), who defeated Rafael Rullian convincingly to wrap up a stellar campaign. In the spring season alone, Mercedes finished 11-2 versus opponents at the no. 1 singles slot.

The Quakers now await their first round postseason opponent in the upcoming conference tournament. Dates and times are to be determined.
