Men’s Tennis in Full Tune, Picks Up Crucial Conference Sweep of Randolph-Macon

First 9-0 sweep since mid-March

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Gearing into the home stretch of their spring slate, the men's tennis team took on Randolph-Macon to help boost their conference standing ahead of the upcoming Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tournament. Everyone was in sync, looking sharp as the Quakers sailed past the Yellow Jackets, 9-0.

Guilford goes two games over .500 at 8-6, with a strong 5-2 record against conference foes. Randolph-Macon drops to 2-7, 1-3 against ODAC opponents.

Andres Mercedes (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) continues to make his claim for an All-ODAC selection, now on a three-match singles winning streak dating back to March 30th against Hampden-Sydney. He dispatched Max Hammock, 6-2, 6-0.

No. 5 singles player Rylan Tuten (Asheville, N.C.) sees his fine form continue, as well. Dating back to a March 29th matchup against Pfeiffer, the sophomore has won four out his past five singles matches, including a win versus William Adair by a 6-0, 6-0 scoreline.

Guilford aims to complete the weekend sweep at home, as Averett comes to the McMichael courts for a Sunday matchup tomorrow afternoon. Start time for the conference match is set for 1:00 p.m.
