GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Visiting Belmont-Abbey were Guilford's next opponents at the McMichael Tennis Courts, and the fans in attendance were treated to a close, hard-fought matchup between the Quakers and Crusaders. After a strong 2-1 start concluding doubles, Guilford dropped four out of the six singles rubbers, losing 5-4.
GC loses their first match in the spring, as their record moves to 3-2. BAC moves to 15-9 on their season.
Andres Mercedes (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) and Brandon Hermes (West Hartford, Conn.) were the lone Quakers to win both in doubles and singles. The duo partnered together at no. 1 doubles and won a close 8-6 match, and took their proceeding singles matches in tough, three-setters.
Guilford's other point also came in doubles, as the no. 3 tandem of Evan Wong (Greensboro, N.C.) and Rishi Halukurike (Greensboro, N.C.) won 8-7, with the final set tie break going the distance, 14-12.
