Tennis Visit Maroons for Conference Bout

Men remain undefeated in ODAC play, while women drop first conference rubber of the spring

SALEM, Va. -- The men's and women's tennis teams made the identical trip to Salem, Virginia for a road conference match against Roanoke. Both teams achieved the same results through Sunday's play, but were reversed; the men were victorious by a 9-0 scoreline, and the women were bested by the Maroons by the same scoreline.

On the year, the men's squad advances to 4-2, (2-0 ODAC). Roanoke drops their first conference match, as their record stands at 7-2 (1-1 ODAC).

For the women, they level out at 4-4 (1-1 ODAC) through today's results. The Maroons, on the other hand, advance to 5-5 (3-1 ODAC).

The men's squad kept their singles lineup the same from their last time out, but experimented in the doubles rubber, to success. No. 1 remained intact, but the no. 2 tandem of Tye Sasser (Clayton, N.C.) and Evan Wong (Greensboro, N.C.) made their collegiate doubles debut together. They were victorious with an 8-4 set victory. At no. 3, sophomores Rylan Tuten (Asheville, N.C.) and Emmanuel Oye (Asheville, N.C.) achieved an 8-5 win.

On the women's side, Brie Chisholm (Greensboro, N.C.) got her first taste of collegiate tennis with a debut at the No. 6 singles slot.

Both tennis squads are back at the McMichael courts, continuing conference play versus Randolph College on Wednesday, March 20. Doubles start time for both matches are slated for a 3:30 p.m. start.
