GREENSBORO, N.C. -- GC stayed put at #8 in the latest
D3hoops.com Top 25 rankings after a strong 2-0 week, defeating Virginia Wesleyan & Washington and Lee. Week seven marks the sixth consecutive week that the Quakers have been ranked in the top 10, their longest streak in over a decade. Since the start of the new year, Guilford has won five of their past six games; now 16-2 overall, and 7-2 in ODAC play.
The top five remains the same from last week, with ODAC foe Hampden-Sydney ranked at No.1 for the fourth straight week, receiving 24 of 25 first-place votes. Joining the Tigers are Case Western Reserve (No. 2), John Carroll (No. 3), Calvin (No. 4) and Trinity (No. 5). Randolph-Macon re-enters the top 10, making it three ODAC teams among the nation's top-ranked Division III schools. The Marlins of Virginia Wesleyan are currently still receiving votes this week, as well.
GC have been on fire since the beginning of January, dropping only one contest, to now No. 10 RMC. Over the remainder of the month, Guilford will play on the road two out of the next three contests before turning to February, in search of their first ODAC championship in five years. Tom Palombo surpassed Jack Jensen's all-time winning record at Guilford. Tip-off on Wednesday, January 27 is set for 7 p.m.
