The Guilford College men's lacrosse traveled to Pfeiffer University for a non-conference showdown. The Quakers fell behind the Falcons early and were not able to recover, losing 15-8.
Pfeiffer opened the scoring just over a minute into the opener. The hosts added four more until
Devin Morse netted a man-up chance to get Guilford on the board. After the first, the Falcons led 5-1.
Both teams were in a stalemate for the first nine minutes of the second until
Gavin Brown scored off a pass from Morse. It was the first of three-straight for Brown to pull the Quakers within one (5-4). Over the final 2:18 of the second, Pfeiffer scored three goals to hold an 8-4 edge at the half.
The third period was a defensive battle between the two squads. Only six shots between the teams were on goal with one each finding the back of the goal. Headed to the final 15 minutes, the Falcons still held a four-goal (9-5) edge.
Brown started the fourth off with a man-down goal with an assist from
Gabe Alvarez. Over a 1:30 later,
Aimery Workman scored to cut the deficit to two (9-7). However, Pfeiffer scored six-straight to grab a 15-7 advantage.
Workman scored the final goal of the contest but the hosts won by the seven-goal difference.
Brown led the Quakers with four goals while Morse finished with three points (1G, 2A). GC was 5-8 on extra man opportunities while
