Guilford Survives Late Push from Ferrum

The Guilford College women's basketball team traveled to Ferrum College to take on the Panthers in the last road game of the year. The Quakers were triumphant and won, 68-63.

Lindsay Gauldin opened up the scoring for Guilford (20-4, 13-4) with an and-one play. Gauldin scored the Quakers first seven points, but Ferrum (11-14, 7-11) was able to keep up and keep the first quarter close. The quarter ended with Guilford up four (13-9).

In the second quarter, Ashtyn Zeigler scored a much-needed six points to keep the lead for the Quakers. Amara Harrell scored a big three to go up by seven (22-15) with 4:28 on the clock. For the rest of the quarter, the Quaker's offense struggled as the Panthers outscored the visitors 15-6 to lead 30-28 at the break.

Guilford attempted to gain momentum at the start of the half as Courtney McMillan hit a three to even the score at 32. Guilford went on a 13-1 run to close out the third quarter and led 49-35.

Headed into the fourth quarter, the Panthers opened with a nine-point run. The Quakers responded and were able to maintain a narrow lead for the remainder of the game.

Guilford was led by Gauldin with 19 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Zeigler added 11 points while Carleigh Perry finished with eight points and 11 rebounds.
