The Guilford College men's soccer team traveled north to Bridgewater, Virginia to take on Bridgewater College. The Quakers scored two goals in the second half but fell short to the Eagles, 3-2.
The match kicked off with a even amount of play until the 12-minute mark when Bridgewater got on the board first. The Eagles placed two more shots on goal but
Roman Robinson made the saves.
With 28:57 gone in the first half, the hosts found the back of the net once more to claim a two-goal advantage. They later added one more goal just five minutes before the end of the half. Bridgewater held a 3-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, Bridgewater continued its pressure until
Logan Eure got Guilford on the board in the 63rd minute. Play continued to go back and forth for a majority of the half.
With a little over five minutes left in regulation,
Jasper Ardinger scored off a pass from
Jeremy Pless to pull the Quakers within one. Unfortunately, the comeback was a little too late as the Eagles held on for the one-goal win.
Robinson played just over 33 minutes in goal, allowing two goals and making two saves.
Ildis Vital-Peraza took over for the remainder of the game, allowing one goal and making three saves.
Guilford is set to travel to Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday, October 1. Start time is set for 4:00 p.m.
