Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Draws even with Pfeiffer

Today marked the first regular season game for men's soccer, ending in a hard fought 3-3 draw against the Pfeiffer Falcons.

The Quakers started off hot, with Logan Eure netting a goal off a free kick at 21:54 in the first half.

The Quakers conceded a goal less than five minutes later when the Falcons scored at the 26:37 mark in the half. The play was neutral for the rest of the half with each team having their chances on each end. Shots in the half were close with the Quakers having four and five for the Falcons.

The second half started off well with the Quakers having some quality shots, but the Falcons countered and scored off a penalty kick, given up by Caleb Jordan, at the 62:12 minute mark.

That goal changed the momentum in favor of Pfeiffer, leading to another goal just 57 seconds later. However, a yellow card at 69:19 by the Falcons evened out the momentum. Leading to a Kenny Nzekwe goal assisted by Jesse Guzman with under 18 minutes to play.

Roughly eight minutes later, Nzekwe netted his second goal of the contest assisted by Eure, for his third point of the game.

Over the final nine-plus minutes, the Falcons put on the pressure leading to multiple shots down the line, with one hitting the crossbar. However, clutch saves by Roman Robinson the Quakers held off the offensive pressure as the final horn sounded to end the game in a 3-3 tie.

Pfeiffer held the advantage in shots on goal (10) and corner kicks (5). Robinson finished the night with seven saves in 90 minutes of action.

Guilford remains on the road as it travels to Fredericksburg, Virginia for a matchup with the University of Mary Washington on Saturday, September 3. Start time is slated for 1 p.m.
