The Guilford College men's tennis team continued its trip in Virginia as it faced the Bridgewater College Eagles. The Quakers fell in a close battle, 5-4.
Drake Schreiber and
Evan Wong (first doubles) along with
Dominik Pocrnja and
Andrew Ferris (third doubles) fell by the score of 8-4. The team of
Jay Montague and
Tye Sasser fell in a tie breaker, 7-1, and dropped second doubles 8-7.
In singles action, Schreiber fell in straight sets at first singles (6-0, 6-3). Montague got the first win for the Quakers at second singles with scores of 6-3, 5-7 and 6-0. Ferris won his match at the third matchup in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-3.
Wong and
Drew Clark were victorious at fourth and sixth singles, respectively. At fifth singles, Sasser dropped the first set, 6-2, but bounced back in the second , 6-4, to force a third set. Unfortunately, the sophomore fell, 6-2, as the Eagles won the overall match.
Guilford hosts Pfeiffer University on Sunday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m.
