Women's Basketball Triumphant over Salem

The Guilford College women's basketball team hosted the Salem College Spirits. The Quakers breezed through the Spirits with a score of 89-55.

Guilford started off the game hot by scoring eight-straight points to gain the lead. Salem was able to make their first three pointer by Cree Bass, 8-3. Guilford continued to press the gas as they were in the lead by 10 towards the end of the first. The Quakers ended the first ahead, 23-10. 

To start the second, Anna Giannopouou came through with a good layup followed by another layup from Lindsay Gauldin, 27-10. By the middle of the second, the Quakers increased their lead to 21 with two made free throws by J'la Hinson, 37-16. Going into halftime, the visitors were trailing behind by 32 points, 53-21. 

The Quakers were able to keep the momentum through the halftime break and came out scoring the first five points inside the paint. With a great lead, Taylor Dunn made a three pointer to increase their lead, 71-34. With 16 seconds left in the quarter, Salem made a good jump shot ending with, 80-42. 

In the final quarter, the visiting squad did not give up. The Quakers were able to put up an additional nine points with help from Alexis Woods, Courtney McMillian, Hannah Hoffman, and Markayla Massenburg while the Spirits were able to put up 13, 89-55.

Guilford was also able to capitalize on steals from Salem College, 20-3. The Quakers also dominated the rebound category 47-41, leading to 18 second-chance points. 

The Quakers will stay at home and host Methodist University on Friday, December 30 at 12:30 p.m.
