The Guilford College men's basketball team faced the Randolph College WildCats in a conference matchup. After a closely contested first half, the Quakers outscored the visitors by 19 for a 76-49 win.
Tyler Dearman paced all scores with 18 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
Julius Burch and
Jorden Davis each added 11 points on the evening.
In the opening half, Randolph (3-5, 0-2) hit the first basket of the game. Guilford (6-2, 2-0) scored the next six points with four off the hand of Dearman.
Over the next 10 minutes, the two squads went back and forth with the WildCats cutting the deficit to one on multiple occasions.
The Quakers went on an 8-0 run with three pointers from
Rob Littlejohn and
Elijah Bowens to hold a 25-16 edge with 3:54 remaining in the half. At the half, Guilford led 28-20.
In the second half, GC opened its edge to double digits and never looked back. The team's largest lead was 29 at two points and cruised to the 27-point victory.
The Quakers held edge in rebounds (50-39), steals (11-4) and turnovers (10-22). GC produced 28 points in the paint, 26 off turnovers and 22 second chance points.
Guilford heads north to face the Hornets of Shenandoah University on Saturday, December 3. Tip-off is at 2:00 p.m.
