The Guilford College men's basketball team traveled to face Pfeiffer University. A 17-2 run early in the first half guided the Quakers to an 88-74 victory.
Tyler Dearman led the way for Guilford with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists while
Jorden Davis finished with 16 points, four boards and a trio of steals.
Pfeiffer took early control of the game and led by six (11-5) with 17:19 on the clock. On the Quakers next possession,
Tyler Dearman hit a three off a pass from
Luke Proctor that jump started what ended up being a 21-4 run over the next seven minutes.
At the end of the run, GC led 26-15 with 10:13 left in the first half. The Falcons tried to cut the deficit but the closest they got was seven (43-36) at the 2:01 mark. The Quakers ended the half scoring the final seven points to go ahead 50-36.
In the second half, Guilford never relinquished the double-digit advantage and even opened the lead to 24 points on multiple occasions. GC went on to win by the 14-point margin.
In the game, 10 different Quakers scored with five of them finishing in double digits. As a team they out-rebounded Pfeiffer 42-37 and forced 17 turnovers with eight steals.Â
Guilford opens conference play on Saturday, November 26 at Bridgewater College. Start time is set for 2:00 p.m.
