GC Falls to Virginia Wesleyan

The Guilford College men's soccer team traveled to Virginia Wesleyan to take on the Marlins. The Quakers fought hard in a highly contested match but fell 3-1.

The first half started off with a quick goal from the Marlins at the 12:18 mark. The Quakers were forced to try to counter by the end of the half but could not. Virginia Wesleyan continued to create chances finishing the half with eight shots to the Quakers' three. Roman Robinson tallied four saves in the first 45 minutes. The first half also consisted of eight fouls, four from both teams.

The second half started out similar to the first, with Virginia Wesleyan scoring early at the 56:26 mark. The foul struggles continued into the second half with three yellow cards given out, one to the Quakers and two to the Marlins. Guilford kept struggling to create chances and they conceded another goal in the 80th minute to make the score 3-0. GC was eventually able to net an unassisted goal with less than five minutes left in regulation, scored by Ryan Doyle

Virginia Wesleyan outshot Guilford 23-10 with Robinson keeping the Quakers in the game and finished the match with 10 saves in 90 minutes. 

Guilford completes its regular season on Wednesday, October 26 at 6:00 pm at home against Washington and Lee for the Quaker's senior day.
